Weekly Crypto XPredict Roundup: ETH Touched 2,500. Why Did XPredict Still Show 59%?

2026-10-15

ETH’s 24-hour high stood at 2,521.42 USDT. Yet on XPredict, the active contract asking whether Ethereum would reach 2,500 still showed a 59% Yes quote.

The missing detail was time: that high occurred before the active contract began observing prices.

At the October 15 snapshot, ETH was trading at 2,368.35 USDT after a 5.08% daily decline. The market’s October ladder offered a useful way to read the remaining thresholds — provided each contract’s starting point was understood.

ETH Touched 2,500. Why Did XPredict Still Show 59%?

After the Selloff: The Nearest Levels

The decline left ETH closer to falling thresholds than rising ones. The day’s range ran from 2,318.00 to that 2,521.42 high, and the price spent the snapshot morning nearer the bottom of it. Four contracts sat closest to where ETH was trading.

Threshold Direction Displayed Yes Distance from spot
2,300 ↓ 76% −2.89%
2,500 ↑ 59% +5.56%
2,200 ↓ 44% −7.11%
2,600 ↑ 32% +9.78%

The nearest downside level sat less than 3% away, while the nearest upside level required more than 5%. Displayed Yes prices fell at more distant upside thresholds: 18% at 2,700, 13% at 2,800 and 6% at 3,000. On the downside, 2,100 and 2,000 were quoted at 28% and 13%.

These quotes reflect market expectations for specific price-touch events, rather than ETH’s closing price at month-end.

Why the Earlier Touch Did Not Count

The active contract on ETH reaching 2,500 began observing prices at 16:18 UTC on 14 October.

The 2,521.42 high came from the one-minute candle opening at 12:30 UTC that day, nearly four hours before the contract’s observation period began. All 133 candles that reached 2,500 during the rolling 24-hour window occurred before that starting point. By the snapshot, no qualifying candle had reached the level during the active contract’s observation period.

Two earlier contracts on the same threshold had already resolved Yes and closed, which is why the same price target appeared more than once on the page. The 2,700 upside threshold showed the same pattern more dramatically: four successive contracts had resolved, with a fifth still open from 7 October.

A price target tells only part of the story. The contract’s starting point determines which price moves count.

One Month Can Produce Two Yes Outcomes

Picture a month in which ETH falls to 2,300, recovers to 2,500, and finishes somewhere between the two. Both touch contracts could resolve Yes, provided each move fell inside that contract’s own observation period.

That is why the 76% on 2,300 and the 59% on 2,500 are not competing halves of a single forecast. They describe separate threshold events, and their percentages should not be added together or read as a prediction of where ETH closes the month.

October had already produced several Yes outcomes. Thirteen contracts in this market were closed and resolved Yes by the snapshot date, covering touches at 2,400, 2,500, 2,600 and 2,700 on the way down and 2,500 and 2,700 on the way up — a month that had crossed a wide band in both directions.

Settlement runs on Binance ETH/USDT one-minute candles — a qualifying Low for downside contracts, a qualifying High for upside ones, with equality counting. One qualifying candle is enough to meet the Yes condition under the published rules. Where ETH finishes on 31 October is not the test.

A reading note on the quotes. Displayed Yes and No figures do not always sum to 100%: on the 2,500 upside contract they showed 59% and 47%, and on 2,200 downside 44% and 51%. The order panel also displays an estimated 3.5% fee. Both matter when working out what a position actually costs.

Where Trading Activity Was Concentrated

Trading volume was concentrated away from the nearest price thresholds.

The 2,500 upside contract carried the second-highest quote in the table but had turned over approximately USD 2,700. The highest cumulative volume sat at 2,100 downside, with roughly USD 307,800 — more than a hundred times as much — followed by 2,800 upside at about USD 180,700 and 1,800 downside at about USD 132,900. The busiest contracts were the distant ones, not the ones the price was closest to.

Cumulative volume records what has traded over a contract’s life; it does not establish how much depth is available now, and a high quote does not imply an active market.

What to Watch Before the Window Closes

The Federal Reserve’s calendar lists an FOMC meeting on 27–28 October, with a press conference on the 28th. These contracts stop observing on 1 November at 04:00 UTC.

The FOMC meeting falls within the remaining observation window. For the active 2,500 contract, the next qualifying touch would count; the earlier high fell outside its observation period. That starting point explains why a level ETH had already crossed could still carry a 59% Yes quote.
