Strategic ETH Reserve Hits

  • Jeffrey Wilcke’s wallet transferred 2,500 ETH worth $10.3 million to Kraken within seven days.
  • The wallet’s recent activity marks a notable increase in both volume and frequency compared to previous years.
  • Ethereum’s price hovered around $4,000 during all three transfers, with the largest single transfer valued at $5.99 million.

A wallet linked to Ethereum co-founder Jeffrey Wilcke has transferred a total of 2,500 ETH to Kraken in the past seven days, totaling approximately $10.3 million. The most recent and largest transaction occurred today, with 1,500 ETH moved to the exchange just 35 minutes before the transaction was captured in a screenshot. This transfer alone was valued at $5.99 million based on market prices at the time.

Ongoing Transfers Marked a Shift in Activity

A detailed view of the activity reveals that, two days before today’s transfer, the same wallet sent 500 ETH, worth $2.1 million, to Kraken. A week ago, another 500 ETH valued at $2.22 million was moved to the same exchange. These recent transfers show a shift in the wallet’s behavior compared to its historical activity, which featured far smaller and less frequent outflows.

Despite the large transfers, the wallet still holds 2,058 ETH, which is approximately $8.23 million at current market prices. Market data confirms Ethereum’s price briefly dropped below $4,000 today but quickly regained ground, trading slightly above that level during the most recent transfer. The combined value of the 2,500 ETH moved this week was calculated using an average ETH price of $4,124.

Historical Kraken Transactions Provide Context

This is not the first time this wallet has moved funds to Kraken. One year ago, a 249.9 ETH transfer worth $740,770 was recorded. Smaller transactions from that same period included 1 ETH worth $2,906 and 0.1 ETH worth $297. Two years ago, another minor transaction of 0.3 ETH valued at $999 was sent to the same exchange. These older records show less frequent and smaller-sized transfers than those seen in the past week.

The recent week’s activity stands out not just for its size but for its frequency. The 2,500 ETH moved to Kraken in just seven days surpasses previous annual transfers. All major outgoing transactions over the past week have been directed to Kraken, making the exchange a consistent destination for the wallet’s ETH outflows.

Price Movement and Market Timing

The wallet’s latest transactions occurred during a time of Ethereum price fluctuation. Ethereum hovered around the $4,000 mark during all three transfers. Today’s price dip below $4,000 coincided with the 1,500 ETH transfer but stabilized above that level soon after.

These on-chain transactions remain confirmed and publicly visible. In total, the wallet has moved over $10.3 million worth of Ethereum to Kraken within a single week. The wallet remains active and still controls over $8 million in ETH.
