Marathon Digital Holdings transferred 1,318 Bitcoin during a period of continued market weakness. The transferred Bitcoin carried an estimated value of $86.89 million at the time. On-chain data showed the transactions occurred within a ten-hour window. The movement aligned with Bitcoin’s ongoing price decline. Market participants closely tracked the activity due to Marathon’s large Bitcoin holdings.
Blockchain data showed Bitcoin moved to institutional platforms rather than retail exchanges. The receiving firms included Two Prime, BitGo, and Galaxy Digital. These companies provide custody, liquidity, and trading services for institutional clients. The transfers did not indicate immediate selling activity. Instead, the movement suggested internal treasury or risk management operations.
Despite the transfers, Marathon still holds 52,850 Bitcoin on its balance sheet. The company remains the second-largest corporate holder of Bitcoin globally. Strategy continues to lead corporate Bitcoin ownership. Strategy recently purchased 855 Bitcoin, increasing its holdings to 713,502 Bitcoin.
Several other firms also hold substantial Bitcoin reserves. Twenty One Capital holds 43,514 Bitcoin. Metaplanet Inc controls 35,102 Bitcoin. Bitcoin Standard Treasury Company holds 30,021 Bitcoin. These figures show that corporate Bitcoin exposure remains concentrated among a small group of firms.
Marathon’s transfer occurred alongside other large institutional Bitcoin movements. Earlier, on-chain data showed Nakamoto transferred 933 Bitcoin to a new wallet. The transfer carried an estimated value of $65 million. It followed a recent acquisition of 5,400 Bitcoin valued at $376.4 million. These movements pointed to ongoing balance sheet adjustments by large holders.
Institutional asset managers also moved digital assets during the same period. BlackRock recently deposited cryptocurrencies to exchanges. The firm transferred 3,900 Bitcoin valued at about $275 million. It also deposited 27,197 Ethereum worth approximately $56.68 million. The assets moved to Coinbase Prime for institutional custody and execution.
Bitcoin traded below $66,000 as these transfers took place. The total cryptocurrency market capitalization fell to $2.298 trillion. This marked a 7.7% decline over the past day. Bitcoin traded near $65,314 after an 8.6% daily drop. Selling pressure affected most major digital assets.
Bitcoin dominance declined to about 56.4% during the session. Ethereum maintained close to 10% market dominance. Bitcoin’s market capitalization stood near $1.295 trillion. Daily trading volume reached approximately $161.66 billion. Investors are monitoring large treasury movements amid the heightened volatility.
