Tron’s USDT Transfers Record Higher Daily Volume Than PayPal’s Q2 Payment Activity

2025-09-18

Tron

  • Tron recorded a $36.53B USDT transfer on Sept 16, over 7x PayPal’s average daily volume of $4.93B.
  • Over 30 days, Tron averaged $22.89B in daily USDT transfers with 1.07M active accounts, both metrics showing growth.
  • PayPal posted 5% revenue growth and 18% EPS increase, but adjusted free cash flow declined 42% year-over-year.

In Q2 2025, PayPal processed a total payment volume of $443.5 billion, averaging $4.93 billion daily. On the other hand, the Tron blockchain saw a single-day USDT transfer volume of $36.53 billion on September 16. That figure was over seven times PayPal’s average daily payment volume for the quarter. Tron’s recent transfer activity also showed a consistent pattern of high-volume stablecoin movement. The data presented a clear contrast between traditional payment systems and blockchain-based networks in transaction flow and user engagement.

PayPal’s Quarterly Financials Reflect Modest Growth in Key Metrics

PayPal reported $8.29 billion in revenue for the second quarter of 2025, a 5% increase from 2024. The same growth rate was seen when excluding foreign exchange impacts. Transaction margin dollars rose 7% year-over-year to $3.84 billion. Without interest from customer balances, transaction margin dollars reached $3.53 billion, growing by 8% from the same quarter last year.

Non-GAAP earnings per share were $1.40, an 18% increase year over year. However, modified free cash flow fell to $656 million, a 42% reduction compared with Q2 2024, indicating a mixed financial commission during the period.

USDT on Tron Records Stronger Transfer Volumes and Higher Account Activity

The blockchain hosted $36.53 billion in USDT transfers on September 16 alone. Daily USDT transfer volumes on Tron regularly ranged between $10 billion and $30 billion across the past year. Several peaks passed $33 billion, with September 16 setting a new high. Over the last 30 days, USDT transfers on Tron averaged $22.89 billion daily. This reflected a 3.3% increase from the previous 30-day period.

During the same 30-day window, daily active accounts transferring USDT averaged 1.07 million. That represented a 4% rise compared with the prior 30-day span. The network showed steady growth in both transaction value and the number of active users.

Stablecoin Transaction Flow Shows Stronger Momentum Compared to Traditional Payments

While PayPal averaged $4.93 billion in daily payment volume for the quarter, Tron’s single-day USDT transfers peaked far higher. The blockchain system managed faster and more frequent transaction flows through its network. Meanwhile, PayPal’s core financials pointed to steady earnings per share growth, though free cash flow dropped significantly.

Each platform showed growth in specific areas, but the scale of movement differed. Tron’s stablecoin-based transfers involved more daily accounts and higher transfer values. In contrast, PayPal’s growth remained focused on revenue and transaction margins. Both sets of metrics revealed a broader picture of evolving financial infrastructure in 2025.
